On Friday October 7, Kingfield welcomes the first in a series of Winter First Friday Artwalks 2011-12, to be held every month from October through April. Join the tour of the galleries, museums and artist’s studios in the walkable center village of Kingfield. Doors will be open on the first Friday each month from 5PM to 8 PM to view art, meet your neighbors and enjoy refreshments, poetry and music. All Artwalks are open to the public, free of charge.
The venues for the Winter 2011-12 First Friday Artwalks include The Mountain Village Farm Gallery, The Stadler Gallery, Western Maine Artist Collective at the Reinholt Gallery, The Schoolhouse Gallery, The Herbert Hotel, The Stanley Museum, The Ski Museum of Maine, CSM Real Estate Artworks, and Scentsations. Each venue will feature creations from local Maine artists and craftsmen. This month the collage style paintings of Peter Walen and the woodworks of his son, Peter D. Walen will be at CSM and a new photography exhibit by John Orcutt titled “Images of Kingfield” will open at the Schoolhouse Gallery. This will also be the inaugural First Friday Artwalk for the new Western Maine Artist Collective at the Reinholt Gallery, featuring the works of over a dozen artists and craftsmen from the Western Maine area.
“The Kingfield Artwalk is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the works of our local artists and craftsmen in the beautiful backdrop of the Western Maine Mountains.” Lisa Standish, owner of the Mountain Village Farm Gallery says. Press, media and the public are all invited to attend the celebration.
