Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset’s Annual Member’s Exhibit opens Thurs. Oct. 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and runs until November 20. This year’s Member’s Exhibit will include a tribute in memory of artists William Shevis of Camden and Stephen Howard of Newcastle. FMI please visit www.maineartgallery.org or phone 882-7511
During the opening, gallery member and illustrator C.V. Smith will be signing copies of “A Swift River Anthology” by playwright Dorothy Johnson. It is a fascinating book written in the voices of some of the 6,500 souls whose graves were dug up and relocated when the Swift River was dammed in 1938 to create the Quabbin Reservoir as a water supply for the city of Boston. The short entries speak with immense personality and emotion to create a very powerful look into history. Book copies are available at the Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren Street, Wiscasset.
