Brenda Erickson of Round Pond is a watercolor artist specializing in the illustration of recipes and is the creator of the Maine Harvest Festival logo. “I started recipe paintings about 8 years ago for the enjoyment of painting still life. After painting several of my own recipes, people starting asking if I could illustrate their family recipe. My favorite recipes to paint are family recipes as each comes with so many wonderful, nostalgic, personal memories. I also try to include and have worked with many Maine products whenever possible. This is why the Maine Harvest Festival is so important to me.”
Erickson printed her first cook/art book last summer, “Kitchen Memories, Recipe Paintings with A Taste of Art.” The book won first place in the Printing Industry of New England Awards and Honorable Mention in the New England book Festival, both soft cover cookbook category. “Kitchen Memories, Recipe Paintings with A Taste of Art” includes 87 Recipe Paintings, about 3/4 of which are private commissions. Each page includes a Recipe Painting, recipe and story of why she painted the recipe. The book can be thought of as an Art Book with recipes or a Cook Book with Art.
On November 10th, Erickson will be interviewed on the WABI TV5, 5:30 News, regarding her work and involvement with the Maine Harvest Festival. FMI, visit www.recipepaintings.com
