Maine artist Peter Buotte has organized an art show, the “International Mix: Djibouti” and is inviting Maine artists to join in. During the months of May-June, this international exhibit will present a polyglot visual experience by artists from Djibouti, Europe, Canada, Asia, and America. The art will be on display at two cultural centers, The Djiboutian Arts Institute and the Institut Francais-Arthur Rimbaud, both in the center of Djibouti City in east Africa.
The current roster of international artists includes Maine artists Daniel Kany, Kenny Cole, Laurie LeFebvre, Alex Rheault and Linda Murray. Artists who would like to submit work for the show can mail up to three flat, small to medium size two-dimensional artworks to the following address: Peter Buotte, PSC 831 Box 33 (Djibouti)FPO AE 09363, USA.
Peter Buotte is a contemporary artist from Augusta who has exhibited throughout Europe, New England and New York. He holds a MFA from the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, and a BFA in Arts and Education from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Buotte is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves as a Civil Affairs officer with 20 years of military experience. He has twice served in Iraq, in 2003 and 2008. Buotte’s next project is to update the notion of classic Greek sculptures with the assistance of wounded veterans.
