The public is invited to an Afternoon Tea with Artist Arnold Mesches, Wednesday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor. In a career spanning over half a century, Arnold Mesches, prolific painter and activist, continues to create art that conveys his concern for a tumultuous world. His energetic brushwork, generous application of paint, and lively color reflect an Abstract Expressionist spirit. Mesches’s images fluctuate from the sacred to the profane as he depicts both what is most revered and feared in society.
Mesches’s paintings are featured this summer in the UMMA exhibition Arnold Mesches: A Minispective. An Afternoon Tea at UMMA is a great opportunity to meet the artist, enjoy some light refreshments and hear a talk by Mr. Mesches about his work.
