National Academy artists at Blue Hill Bay Gallery


Paul Strisik, “Maine Coast”

One of a dozen members of the National Academy featured this summer at the Blue Hill Bay Gallery is Paul Strisik. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and later resided in Rockport, Massachusetts, where his landscape painting brought him national recognition. Throughout his career he made many trips to Maine and especially loved to paint its distinctive coast. He was a member of the National Academy, the American Watercolor Society, and the Oil Painters of America. During his long career, he won 185 awards including 16 gold medals. He was widely respected for his willingness to share his talents with young artists, taught numerous workshops, and wrote several books, his last one being “Capturing the Light in Oils.” Blue Hill Bay Gallery is located on Main St. in Blue Hill, For more information visit
