Courthouse Gallery artist’s reception for William Irvine and John Neville

John Neville, “Big Fish”

Courthouse Gallery Fine Art in Ellsworth will host an artist’s reception for William Irvine and John Neville, 5-7p.m. Wednesday, July 18. New work by these artists will be highlighted in solo exhibitions from July 18 through August 12. Gallery director Karin Wilkes says about the exhibition “Both artists draw inspiration from a life spent living by the ocean. In John Neville’s case, he grew up in Hall’s Harbour, a small boatbuilding and fishing community located on the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, while William Irvine grew up in Troon, a small coastal village on the west coast of Scotland. As a result, their work has an honesty about it that appeals to the viewer. Both artists use bold pallets and have strong modernist styles, making their paintings iconic and instantly recognizable. This should be a terrific show.” For more information call 667-6611, or visit courthousegallery.com
