New exhibition at Salty Dog

Mark Fink, “Bar Harbor Inn”

Salty Dog Gallery in Southwest Harbor announces a new exhibition of works by Pam Ellis, Mark Fink and Karen North Wells on display Monday August 20 through September 1, with an artists’ reception from 5-7 p.m. Thursday August 23

Pam Ellis creates small-scale watercolors which are tiny gems conveying a huge scale through a loving rendering of atmosphere and light. She captures the essence of a scene by keeping the focus tight and the details precise, drawing you into her world.  Fink, a painter and printmaker residing in the small fishing village of Bass Harbor, says that his experiences outside of school, close to nature, have had the most impact on his work. “In Maine,” says Fink, “the ever-changing colors of the ocean–and the dynamics of water as a fluid composition–provide a never-ending source of inspiration for new works.” Karen North Wells is an award-winning artist based in Cape Cod. Her work includes florals, boats, landscapes and seascapes in watercolor and oil. Wells also produces limited edition prints and cards, making her work affordable to all.  The Salty Dog Gallery is located at 322 Main Street. FMI, call 244-5918 or visit philipsteel.com.
