Little and Lorence to talk about Great Cranberry Isle Artists

Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth will host a gallery talk at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 on the “Great Cranberry Isle Artists between 1960 and 1985,” and whose artwork is on currently on view at the gallery through Sept. 16. Carl Little and John Lorence will talk about the coming together and influence of this notable group of east coast artists, including Marvin Bileck, Gretna Campbell, Dorothy Eisner, Louis Finkelstein John Heliker, Jeannie Howard, Robert LaHotan, William Kienbusch, John Lorence, Emily Nelligan, Carl Nelson, and Charles Wadsworth.

Little will present a slide show and talk about the artist’s work. Lorence, who is one of two artists from this group who is still living will talk about his memories about the individual artists and the close-knit community they developed.
