Farnsworth Collective presents The End of the World Afterparty

Guests at the October 2011 Collective Launch Party at the Bicknell Building in Rockland.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Farnsworth Art Museum’s newest membership group The Collective will host their second annual bash entitled The End of the World Afterparty. The event, open to those 21 years old and up, will take place at the Odd Fellows Hall Building on School Street in Rockland, from 9 p.m. to midnight.

It has been one year since the infamous debut of The Collective at the Bicknell Building on Lime Street in Rockland and this diverse and dynamic group is ready to follow up its Launch Party with another exciting event. Come dance the world away with D.J. Mr. Dereloid, winner of the 2012 Portland Phoenix Music Poll for Best DJ/Dance act and his collaborative partner DJ Mike Said in this little-known curiosity of a space, which has been completely and artistically re-imagined. Help The Collective celebrate its first year with $1 – $2 drinks provided by 40 Paper Satellite, Down East Magazine’s choice for best cocktails in Maine. Enjoy delightful nibbles provided by Long Grain, Primo, Francine’s Bistro/Shepherd’s Pie, Sweets and Meats Market, Café Miranda, and Maine Coast Catering.

The fee for this event is Collective members: Free, Non-collective members: $25 for advance purchase, $30 at the door. Advance purchase may be applied towards a Collective membership add-on. Tickets may be purchased in the Museum Store, online at farnsworthmuseum.org/ticket-end-world-after-party, or by calling the Membership Department at 207-596-6256.

Earlier this summer, The Collective hosted an After Party for the International short film series Rockland Shorts at The Lincoln Street Center for the Arts and Education. This third and final Rockland Shorts After Party of the year featured cocktails, savory treats, a happening artistic scene and dance tunes provided on this occasion by DJ Mark Kelly. It was an occasion to discuss the short films featured in the evening’s lineup at The Strand, and also to celebrate Lincoln Street Center’s many wonderful contributions to the artistic and educational community in the mid-coast. Lincoln Street Center for the Arts and Education closed its doors on June 30.

The Collective is a membership group consisting of diverse and dynamic individuals from the mid-coast that have come together to help attract a younger audience to the Farnsworth Art Museum through the presentation of intriguing programs and vibrant social events. The End of the World Afterparty is sponsored in part by Bangor Savings Bank, Ferraiolo Construction and 40 Paper Satellite with support from Long Grain, Primo, Francine’s Bistro/Shepherd’s Pie, Café Miranda, Sweets and Meats Market, and Maine Coast Catering. Tickets may be purchased online at farnworthmuseum.org and additional details are on facebook.com/farnsworthcollective.
