“People: The Artist’s Perception IV.” opens at Pearson Legacy Gallery

On Thursday,  November 1, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, the Pearson Legacy Gallery in Deer Isle will  host a reception to open the fourth annualexhibition, “People: The Artist’s Perception IV .”  The work of almost 40 artists from Maine and beyond – painters, photographers, printmakers, quilters,  jewelers,  potters, glass artists, and more – will demonstrate an incredible diversity of styles and materials focusing on images of people – real people or imaginary.  Absolutely detailed people or totally abstract.  It’s the artist’s perception.

This year, for this exhibition, all gallery visitors are invited to vote for their favorite piece – it is a  People’s Choice Award.  The artist with the most votes at the end of the exhibition will receive a gift certificate for a local restaurant.  And, just for voting, each voter will be part of a drawing to win a special prize from the Pearson Legacy Gallery.

In addition, at the opening reception, guests will have a chance to do their own self-portrait with the help of Ed Bagley’s amazing Self Portrait Machine.  It was created and designed to have people participate in the Art Process while interacting with the Machine to create a unique self portrait. Try is out – it’s great fun.  No artistic skills necessary.

The reception on November 1st is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.

The Pearson Legacy Gallery is located at 13 Dow Road in Deer Isle and is open Thursdays through Sundays, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  For information on the current exhibition, future exhibits, and other programs, please contact: Carolyn A. Hecker at either (207) 348-2535 or 348-6848.
