Archipelago Fine Arts Gallery opens a winter show “Heritage,”

“Somes Sound” by E. Kendra Denny

Archipelago Fine Arts Gallery in Rockland invites the public to the opening reception for “Heritage,” a winter show of work by local artists E. Kendra Denny and Petrea Noyes, 5- 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. About her current work, Kendra says, “…my paintings are a celebration of the region I come from, the rich heritage of coastal life, and an expression of the deep emotional ties I feel for the coast of Maine.” Art critic Carl Little has called Lincolnville artist Petrea Noyes’ work “ghostly.” She creates this ethereal quality using vintage black-and-white photos as a starting point, scanning the photos in and using several computer programs to alter, crop, re-size and digitally “paint” her pieces.  For more information please visit islandinstitute.org
