DIAA call for art, muralist

Deer Isle Artists Association will be hosting an exhibition in conjunction with “Wings, Waves & Woods,” the annual birding celebration on Deer Isle sponsored by the Deer Isle-Stonington Chamber of Commerce. It has been a very successful event in previous years, bringing lots of visitors to Deer Isle, and the DIAA will get a lot of exposure through this exhibit. Two bird-related or habitat-related pieces per artist will be accepted. Entry fee is $15 per person.  Delivery of work to DIAA is on Sunday, May 12, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Show dates are May 17 to May 26, with the DIAA Gallery open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.  The opening reception will be on Friday, May 17, from 5 pm- 7 pm. The DIAA Gallery will also be open on Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day).

DIAA is also looking for someone to create a rather large mosaic for a building project in the Blue Hill peninsula. The rough outline is a one hundred and twenty foot (yes…120′) long by 18″ high, with a mosaic of a fairly simple design, possibly a “Celtic knot” motif. The mosaic could be constructed in five foot (5′) panels. For further information contact Darwin Davidson, 207-348-7767, darwin@darwindavidson.com
