UMaine Museum opens Summer Exhibits

“Surrender” by Emily Trenholm

The University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor will open three new exhibitions June 21, featuring the work of Joanne Freeman, Rachelle Agundes & Sean Downey, and Emily Trenholm. During a five-week artist residency on Monhegan Island Trenholm walked the same island paths trekked by scores of other painters, including Rockwell Kent and Edward Hopper. While these acclaimed artists have been inspirational, Trenholm aspired to offer a fresh vision of the dramatic rock and surf captured by so many. Her plein air paintings portray the eternal energy of this dynamic landscape. UMMA, brings innovative contemporary art exhibitions to the region and presents approximately 12 original exhibitions each year. UMMA’s summer exhibitions will open to the public on June 21 and run through September 21, 2013. Admission is free. For more information visit umma.umaine.edu
