Jonathan Frost Gallery opens “Roses, Romance, and Roller Derby,”

Jonathan Frost Gallery in Rockland invites the public to a gala artists’ reception 5-8 p.m. Friday July 5 during the Rockland Artwalk, featuring live jazz with Steve Lindsay and Friends. The show, “Roses, Romance, and Roller Derby,” is a solo exhibition by gallery owner Jonathan Frost, his first in prime season since opening the gallery in 2006. In addition to the Roller Derby paintings, Frost presents sixteen of his signature oils of floral subjects – the “Roses” of the title of the show, and a visual meditation on two poems by Emily Dickinson, the “Romance.” The show runs through July 31. Winter Street will be closed to vehicular traffic on from 4:45 p.m. – 8 p.m. July 5 for a demonstration by the Rock Coast Rollers, the Midcoast’s own roller derby team and the subject of several of Frost’s work in the show.
