Shaw Jewelry presents “Maine College of Art Alumni Exhibition” and “3-D Printed Jewelry”

“Sunset” by Holly Ready

Shaw Jewelry in Northeast Harbor invites the public to an opening reception 5  – 7 p.m. Thursday Aug. 15 for “Maine College of Art Alumni Exhibition,” and “3-D Printed Jewelry.” Five outstanding artists from Maine College of Art show Maine’s vibrant and compelling artistic legacy with a range of styles and techniques. On view are the work of Connie Haynes, Margaret Lawrence, Mark Marchesi, Holly Ready and Justin Richel. 3-D Printed Jewelry is not virtual, but not exactly handmade either. Designed on the computer, the product is exported to a 3D printer where the concept is transformed to reality in nylon-based polymer or metal. The forms and details are fresh and curious. See the creations of Maria Eife, Joshua DeMonte, Susan Sanders, Rachel Timmons and Nervous System. Also appearing are photography by Jim Nickerson, and for 3 days only, Aug. 15-17, Nelson Rarities Estate Jewelry is presenting quality estate jewelry from one of the world’s leading estate jewelry dealers.
