“Circo d’Alessio” at D’Alessio Gallery

“Clowns with Shorebirds” by Russell D’Alessio

The D’Alessio Gallery in Bar Harbor invites the public to an opening reception 5 – 7 p.m. Fri. Sept. 6, during the Bar Harbor Artwalk, for “Circo d’Alessio.” Historian Steven Raab of the Raab Collection will be on hand with a copy of the actual 1840’s British poster that initially intrigued Russell D’Alessio, a poster that is possibly the oldest circus poster found. Raab will give two short talks throughout the evening on its history, the history of circus posters and the circus itself. Artist D’Alessio will also be in the gallery to showcase his latest works in this current series and answer questions about the poster, John Lennon of the Beatles song “For The Benefit of Mr. Kite,” its influence and how it all ties together for him allowing his creative juices to flow. Come meet a talented artist and a most interesting historian. Talks 6:30 & 7:30 p.m. with Q & A to follow. Food, wine, art, and circus tales all evening long.  You may preview the show by visiting rdalessio.com
