George Marshall Store Gallery in York invites the public to an Opening Reception 5 – 7 p.m. Sat. Aug. 31. No theme was intended when choosing to exhibit the work of these three divergent artists: Robert Baart, a Boston landscape painter; George Pearlman, a ceramic artists from St. George, Maine; and Ellen Wieske, a contemporary craftsman from Deer Isle, Maine. Together they create a fresh, cohesive visual conversation with line, color and form. Also on show is an exhibition by Hope Editions. Tim Higbee and his wife Kathleen established Hope Editions in Hope, Maine in 2008. The press specializes in contemporary and traditional approaches to lithography through the art of collaboration between artist and master printer. This exhibition presents recent prints published by the press including work by Maine artists Alan Bray, Sam Cady, David Kapp, George Lloyd and Tim Higbee. There will be a Gallery Talk 3 p.m. Sun. Sept. 15 where Tim Higbee will discuss the fine art lithography and the process of collaboration. For more information visit georgemarshallstoregallery.com or call 348-2330.
