“R. Scott Baltz: Nature’s Majesty” solo exhibition at Courthouse Gallery

“Blue Mirage Opening” by R. Scott Baltz

Courthouse Gallery Fine Art in Ellsworth is hosting an artist’s reception from 5–7 p.m. on Wed. Aug. 28 for “R. Scott Baltz: Nature’s Majesty,” a solo exhibition through September 15. Baltz’s paintings create an intimate sensation of a world untouched by humanity. A landscape painter and devoted lover of nature, Baltz has managed to render the unspoiled essence of the natural world with his human hand. There is no evidence of people, structures, or industry in his paintings—not so much as a birdhouse or a buoy. An exhibition catalogs for Baltz will be available at the reception or online. Also on view at Courthouse Gallery is “Paintings of Maine,” an exhibition from selected estates. Paintings on exhibition are from the estates of Abraham Bogdanove, Jay Hall Connaway, Dorothy Eisner, Sears Gallagher, Chenoweth Hall, John Heliker, William Moise, Emily Muir, William Muir, Carl Nelson, Stephen Pace, Vincent Hartgen, and Andrew Winter, as well as photographs by Berenice Abbott, and etchings by Carroll Thayer Berry and Charles Wadsworth.
