“Summer on Silk” opens at PicassoWhat Gallery

“My Garden in Tuscany” by Gigi Aea

PicassoWhat Gallery in Rockland invites the public to an opening during the Rockland First Friday Art Walk Sept. 8. Wrapping up the season “Summer on Silk” is an exhibit of large scale textile paintings by Georgian-born artist Gigi Aea. The exhibition and the gallery’s season at this current location will end on Sunday, September 8. “I strive to gain access into the deeper existence of the world through uncommon illusions or visions, and render them in paint,” states Gigi Aea, now a resident of Camden. “Here the balance of life and death whispers perfection, suspended in some dark corner of the universal mind, beyond good and evil. We need to forge that super-consciousness, where the world spins the wheel of time at a different velocity. We need to be encouraged to travel it, we need to find the vehicle to do so.” During the special one-night event, Mr. Aea will meet and greet gallery guests, and speak about the large-scale silk paintings on view, with titles that include “My Garden in Tuscany” and “Dreamer’s World”.
