Farnsworth Collective presents “Artists on Art”

Beginning on Wednesday, October 2, the Farnsworth Collective, the museum’s newest membership group, will present a series of discussions entitled “Artists on Art.” This three-part series devoted to issues of concern to Maine artists will take place on Wednesdays, October 2, October 9, and October 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the museum auditorium. Based on the very popular series of the same name which took place in autumn of 2010, Artists on Art will bring together emerging and mid-career artists for a discussion on topics relevant to artists living and working today. Participants will engage each other and the audience in three different topics of conversation over the three evenings. On October 2, artists Kat Buchanan, Mark Kelly and Jessica Stammen will discuss Time and Money: Studio Practice and Making a Living. Colin Page will moderate the conversation, which will ask questions such as: What does it mean to maintain a studio practice as a working artist? How do you as an artist manage your time and space? What are the rewards and burdens of making art for a living? How is value attached to the products of art-making?
