“Christmas Art Spectacle” in Belfast

Belfast’s Art Walk ”Christmas Art Spectacle” begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday Dec 6
and promises to be a festive village-wide celebration of the work of local artists for the Holiday Gift-Giving Season. Here is Christmas sampler of openings, receptions and shows taking place this evening.

Åarhus Gallery offers an evening of chocolate tasting, browsing music, and conviviality from 5-7 p.m. Northern Lights Gallery is hosting a reception 5:30 to 8 p.m. featuring photographs of the Arctic and lino-prints by Captain Karen. Betts Gallery at The Belfast Framer is hosting an opening reception 5:30-8 p.m. for a “2013 Holiday Gala” featuring small works by 30 artists. Maine Farmland Trust Gallery is hosting a “2013 Small Works Holiday Show” 5:30-8 p.m. Along with many other galleries in downtown Belfast, Maine Farmland Trust Gallery is hosting a show of small works by local artists in order to support shopping locally for holiday gifts.

This year, the line-up of Maine artists at MFTG includes Laurie Lofman Bellmore, Julie Crane, Adele Drake, Elizabeth Fraser, Leslie Harris, Lynn Karlin, Christopher O’Connor, Kathleen Perelka, Lea Peterson, Willy Reddick, Charlotte Sawtelle, Leia Scotton, Jude Valentine, Becky Whight and Sarah Wilde. Together these artists offer a wide variety of work, such as paintings, pastels, photography, jewelry, silk scarves & more. The Trust also has a lovely collection of farm-oriented children’s books, cook books, calendars, CD’s and Holiday cards – available at our gallery in Belfast and soon online.

The village of Rockland is also booked with festive openings as Arts in Rockland hosts a Holiday First Friday Art Walk tonight.
