Farnsworth opens “The Wyeths, Maine and the Sea”

“Young Fisherman and Dory,” study by Andrew Wyeth

On Saturday, April 26, the Farnsworth Art Museum will open an exhibition entitled “The Wyeths, Maine and the Sea.” The exhibition of approximately thirty works will run through Dec. 28 at the museum’s Wyeth Center. The art of the Wyeths – N.C., Andrew and Jamie – is a direct result of their familiarity with and fascination for life along midcoast Maine, reaching back to N.C.’s decision to bring his family to the area in 1920. The opening will be celebrated at a members’ preview and reception which will take place on Friday, April 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wyeth Center, on the corner of Union and Grace Street in Rockland.
