Liros Gallery in Blue Hill invites the public to an Opening reception 5-7 p.m. June 29 for a retrospective for Alex Liros, a Toronto abstract expressionist who will show his work in acrylic and on paper. Alex Liros’ Canadian art odyssey began in Ottawa, Ontario, forty years ago when he first attended the Ottawa Municipal Art Centre, a hands-on school where he took classes in drawing, painting and sculpture. In 1980 Alex and two artists organized a collective, called JAC, with the idea of “documenting” the picnics, beaches, dances, rallies of the gay community. His last show, “Pipelines 2,” was at Gallery 1313 in Toronto in June 2013. The show runs through July 19. For more information visit lirosgallery.com.
