UMaine Museum of Art opens three new summer exhibitions

“A problem is” by Maya Brodsky

The University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor opens three new summer exhibitions June 20. “Awake: Paintings by Maya Brodsky” exhibits a powerful array of realist oil paintings that revere the past and offer tender glimpses into everyday life. “Looking Back Six Years – Part Two: Selected New Acquisitions” features painting, sculpture and original prints acquired since 2008, and highlights new emerging areas of the collection. In “Young Curators – Eight Scoops” participants in UMMA’s innovative youth program have curated a fresh treat for summer. Their enthusiastic selection brings together eight notable artists from the collection. UMMA’s summer exhibitions will run through September 20. Admission is free in 2014 thanks to the generosity of Penobscot Financial Advisors. Visit for more information.
