Portland Museum of Art selects nationally recognized curator Alison Ferris

Alison Ferris [web]The Portland Museum of Art is pleased to announce that nationally recognized curator Alison Ferris has been selected to organize the museum’s 2015 Portland Museum of Art Biennial. The PMA has invited Ferris to curate the exhibition independently, drawing on her deep knowledge of Maine’s exceptional artist community as well as the art history of the region. Unlike previous Biennial exhibitions, this exhibition will not include a call for entries. PMA Curator of Contemporary and Modern Art Jessica May says of Ferris, “Alison has a deep understanding of what makes contemporary art so vital in Maine, and a great eye. We are honored that she has agreed to work with us to extend the tradition of biennials at the PMA into the future. Alison’s exhibition promises to be a pivotal project for the museum, pushing us to new plateau in our presentation of contemporary art for all audiences.” The 2015 Portland Museum of Art Biennial will be on view October 8 through December 31, 2015.
