The Stonington Galleries and Studios trail begins on North Main Street and ends on Greenhead Road. Orange banners mix with the red, white and blues to signal the summer’s first First Friday open gallery night with fresh new art shows and refreshments 4 to 7 p.m. Friday July 4. You will find Anne-Claude Cotty’s dream-like photographs taken with pinhole and plastic toy cameras, Geoffrey Warner’s Owl stools, Shari Ciomei’s vivid seascapes, and Lorraine Lans’ blue tin-roofed studio features charcoal, pastel and oil portraits. Jill Hoy opens her season with plein air oils titled “Powers of Flowers and Tides.” Avery Falkner’s third floor studio, overlooking the harbor, shows a new series of small abstract light-filled “Investigations.” Suzanne Siegel’s Stonington night-time scenes in pastel will be featured at Isalos, and follow Main Street past the post office and toward Sand Beach where you will find Laura Dahlen’s Carriage House Arts and her exquisitely decorated gourds, etched goose eggs and traditional art of painted feathers.
