“I’ve Got a Secret” by Elizabeth Coffey
Kathleen Hall Art features the work of Elizabeth Coffey for the First Friday Art Walk 6 to 9 p.m. on August 1. Coffey’s portraits are based on found photographs which are cropped and manipulated to show some features and hide others. “How much visual information do we need to form an impression and make up a story about someone?” Coffey asks. Through a combination of painting, drawing and collage, Coffey explores relationships and the individual’s place in the world. Coffey is a mixed-media artist who lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. She received a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Kathleen Hall Art is located at 80 West Street in Bar Harbor, near the waterfront. For more information visit kathleenhallart.com or call 804-514-0462.
