Summer Island Studio – Gallery of Fine Artisans located in the Tontine Mall Brunswick, Maine for the opening of Belva Ann Prycel, a unique and engaging, multi-talented artist on Brunswick’s 2nd Friday Art Walk, September 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. Wine, cheese, and horsdoerves will be served with live music by Frank Siegel and our always vibrant gallery collection of Maine made fine jewelry, art, clothing and crafts.
Prycel’s landscape paintings are inspired from the tidal environments, expansive skies and expressive rivers of the northeast coast. As well as, Belva Ann’s acclaimed books of Maine, which richly illustrate her personal experiences with resonance and grace, both will be featured during the month of September.
Living in Alna & Round Pond, Pyrcel exhibits her paintings and appears for book signings throughout the region. During her month long showing autographed copies of three of Pyrcel’s books will be available: Times and Tides is an illustrated memoir of personal essays of the coast; Water Tales: Stories of the Coast is a collection of humorous stories of the author’s life around and on water; and Passage is the story of the loss of Prycel’s family that speaks intimately to our fragile humanity.
Prycel is a graduate of Rowan College, teaching painting and drawing in public schools and at her private studio for over 30 years. Originally from New Jersey she was a well-known cover artist for “South Jersey Magazine” and in 2000 was featured in the award winning documentary “Bayside Artists: Celebrating our Sense of Place.”
