The Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport will present a day-long artist’s book workshop on Saturday, November 15, titled “Fast and Simple Book Making for Adults.” Participants will explore papers and other assorted materials used in making books, learn about the tools of the trade, and leave with at least one finished book. There will be instruction in accordion fold and pamphlet-stitched books and how to make both hard and soft covers. Time permitting, participants will also experiment with Instant Books, made from a single sheet of paper. Instructor for the workshop is Sandy Weisman, a book, fiber, and mixed media artist and poet. She is the former director of gallery education at Massachusetts College of Art and is owner of 26 Split Rock Cove, an artists’ retreat in South Thomaston. No previous experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the fee is $100; $90 for CMCA members. To register or for more information, visit or call CMCA at 236-2875.
