On Saturday, July 11th from 4 – 7 pm the Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., Waldoboro participates in ArtWalk Waldoboro with the opening of “New Inspirations” featuring recent landscape and still life paintings by Anne Heywood. “The title of this show refers to the modern artist, one who paints on a regular basis, finds inspiration in daily life, local scenes and situations, and uses creativity to interpret,” says Heywood. One of the new works for this show is “Carlo’s Inspiration” which depicts an imaginary above-the-cloud “skyscape”, a nod to her son’s love of aviation.
Anne Heywood is an American realist noted for the subtle yet expressive moods created in her paintings. She paints mainly with soft pastels and is the author of the book Pastels Made Easy. A professional artist and workshop instructor for over 25 years, in early June Heywood was honored by the International Association of Pastel Societies with their prestigious Eminent Pastelist designation. Her work is in both national and international private and corporate collections, and is additionally represented in Maine by Gifts at 136, Damariscotta and the Portland Gallery, Portland.
ArtWalk Waldoboro is an evening of fun art openings and related events taking place in the quaint village section of Waldoboro once each month from June to October. Also participating in this event are the Philippe Guillerm Gallery, Tidemark Gallery, and Old No. 9, all within easy walking distance to the Heywood Gallery and each other. Future ArtWalk Waldoboro openings will take place on August 8th, September 12th, and October 10th.
