The Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockland continues its summer 2015 lineup of gallery talks on Wednesday, July 22 at 5:30 pm, with CMCA Director Suzette McAvoy speaking about collecting contemporary art in Maine.
McAvoy will discuss collecting opportunities and strategies using examples of works on display in the current exhibition, “Art to Collect Now.” She will talk about creating collections using different themes, mediums or locales as the focus for building a collection.
“Maine has a vibrant contemporary art scene and there are many great ways to get involved in collecting at all price levels. Living with art can be accessible and rewarding to everyone,” says McAvoy. “CMCA’s annual ‘Art to Collect Now’ exhibition is just one avenue to starting or adding to an existing collection.”
The gallery talk and exhibition are at CMCA’s new, temporary space at the Bicknell Building, 11 Lime Street, Rockland. The talks are free of charge; seating is limited. Current exhibitions run through Sunday, July 26.
