Black Hole Gallery in Rockland is delighted to present a selection of work by young Monhegan artists, John “J.P.” Kordak & Leith MacDonald. The exhibition represents the first public opportunity to see this new body of work on the mainland.
Kordak and MacDonald’s respective artistic practices provide counterpoints to each other in the narrative of their continuing the rich artistic tradition of the island of Monhegan. Furthermore, for this exhibition, their new work is presented in the immediate, bold and contemporary context of two Jamien Morehouse banners, affording opportunity to see parallels between the exquisite craft and playful imagery employed by an artist, significant in the history of American art, and that of Maine and its islands; while offering the chance to see a new generation continue to draw on the unique and beautiful view island life provides.
The exhibition will be shown at Black Hole, 403 Main Street, Rockland through September 20. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (207) 400-2957.
