The newest exhibition, “Small Works and Fine Crafts,” at River Arts in Damariscotta contains 30 fine crafts – from Ted Mohlie’s carved birds to Siri Beckman’s lamps and Ann Slocum’s clock assemblages and also includes, jewelry, scarves, ceramics – as well as 90 paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and monotypes. Sixty artists from all over Maine are participating in this exhibition which will run through Jan 6.
The jurors for this show are Martha Kalina and Bruce Johnston from Gifts 136, downtown Damariscotta. “The team at Gifts at 136 works hard to curate a store of accessible art and fine craft from established and emerging Maine artists. Martha Kalina and Rick Skoglund, owners, along with Bruce Johnston, manager, are proud of the awards received by the gallery of Down East Magazine’s Best Gallery (2013), Down East Magazine’s Best Gift Store (2014) and Yankee Magazine’s Best Gift Store Gallery (2015).”
River Arts is located at 241 US Route 1 (N) in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
