Dec. 5 + 12 = ArtLab for All Ages Workshops

CMCAThe Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) invites you to participate in two December ArtLab explorations. Teaching artist, Alexis Iammarino offers Pattern and Ornament on Paper at the Rockland Recreation Center on Saturday, December 5, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. We welcome all ages to experiment with and develop their own ornament and patterning styles on paper. From the clothing we wear to the buildings where we live, we inhabit a world of pattern and design. Join us to create unique wall hangings or use the papers as one-of-a-kind gift wrap or book covers.

On Saturday, December 12, from 4 to 6 p.m., CMCA presents a second hands-on art experience for families, Miniature Boxes with Shape Shuffle Drawings. Take a few moments during the holiday festivities to “get small” and try your hand at itty-bitty abstract drawings! Explore theme and variation by repeating and shuffling abstract forms. Make surprisingly interactive and compact art work to keep for yourself or give as a gift. Join us at Union Hall at 24 Main Street in Rockport Village and be creative! We look forward to making this an imaginative and fun-filled holiday season.

ArtLab is led by interdisciplinary artist/educator Alexis Iammarino. Alexis received her Masters in Community Art from Maryland Institute College of Art and is the Lead Artist for CMCA’s Leaps of Imagination in-school program. For more information, call (207) 236-2875
