Waterfall Arts’ annual Handmade Show returns to the Clifford Gallery on Friday, December 4th, with a highly festive opening from 5 to 8 pm. The juried show includes work from over one hundred artists and crafts people from all over the state of Maine. Some of the treasures they’ve made include unusual jewelry using new and vintage materials, ceramics, glass pendants, sculptures, lampshades, wine stoppers, coasters, bold prints, teas and tinctures, pillows, scarves, small paintings, hand crafted cards, soaps, specialty food items, textiles, hats, home wares, décor and more. All prices are under $100, with most items well below that. There is truly something for everyone at the Handmade Show.
The grand opening of the show, on Friday December 4, will be a merry occasion open to everyone, with refreshments from local vendors, including the Moody Dog, Belfast Soda Company and more. There’s a cookie contest, ornament making and wrapping paper made by young artists. Fast Food Prints and Shawn Brewer will be on hand to help design and print T-shirts and Pen Chen will make tintype portraits and deliver them the same evening. And there’s time to shop in the gallery, which will be transformed into a sleek urban bazaar full of wonderful things.
Handmade hours have been expanded this year: the gallery will be open during Belfast’s Early Bird hours on Saturday Dec. 5 from 6 to 9 am. Shop hours from Dec. 5 through Dec. 23 are Thursdays and Fridays from 12 noon to 6 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 21 through Dec. 23 from noon to 6 p.m. Arrangements to shop at other times can be made by calling the Waterfall Arts office at (207) 338-2222.
