Local artist Paul Trowbridge will offer the second in his series of Winter Art Workshops at the Deer Isle Artists Association Gallery on Main Street in Deer Isle Village beginning on February 27 and running through March 26th. It is not necessary to have taken part in the first workshop to partake in the second; all are invited warmly invited to join in. Those students who were involved in the first session are, likewise, encouraged to continue with the second.
Workshop members will use their own subject matter as a starting point in which to find the appropriate design elements they wish to play with, emphasize, and exaggerate. They will learn to recognize the elements of design that give strength to their work through abstraction, and they will then move beyond the “same old approach” to experimentation and bold discovery.
The workshop is five weeks long and meets on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost for the five-week session is $100 and should be paid at the first class. Participants should bring materials to class that they are comfortable in using to make artistic images.
